VIDEO: Memorial Hospital celebrates a century of caring
The Family Care Center at MHRI just received Level 3 Patient Centered Medical Home NCQA certification! We are only one of a few practices in the State to receive Level 3 recognition and Rhode Island is one of only 8 states to become a pilot site for the Medicare Patient Centered Medical Home demonstration project. This is the highest level of achievement a site can receive and it sets the stage for further innovation!
Federal Grants to Transform Primary Care at Memorial
Your doctor’s visit won’t be the same. It will be better - thanks to $4.5 million in federal grants recently awarded to Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island and The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. For more than three decades, Memorial Hospital has served as the teaching site and academic home for family medicine for The Alpert Medical School and in Rhode Island.
Over the next five years, four grants from the Health Resources and Services Administration of the Department of Health and Human Services will enhance teaching programs for medical students and residents, furnish equipment for simulation training and provide continuing education for faculty and practice sites. The goal is to develop innovative approaches to improve the practice of medicine that will better serve patients and communities.
Two members of the Brown Family Medicine Residency Class of 2013 were featured in the American Medical News article: “Primary care gets boost in resident Match.” The article highlighted the 4% increase in medical student matches in family medicine, internal medicine and pediatrics residencies.
